David Schumacher on chance of F1 seat cousin Mick: 'Has Wolff's backing'
As is well known, Mick Schumacher is no longer a Formula 1 driver at the moment. Nevertheless, the German sportsman hopes to return to the king class of motorsport soon. 21-year-old David Schumacher is currently driving in the German DTM and he hopes his cousin will soon be able to race again in Formula 1. Whether it is achievable remains to be seen.
"That is difficult to assess. I think Mick definitely has the talent and that he is a fast driver. And that he also has the necessary support from Toto Wolff (Mercedes team boss) to get another seat," Mick's nephew told German Express.
Schumacher and Mercedes
Schumacher has already carried out tests in the Formula 1 car on behalf of Mercedes, but driving in a race weekend has not come up for the time being. He himself previously indicated that he would love nothing more than a comeback on the Formula One grid.
It could be a tricky story, though, given the few positions vacant on the grid. "Whether that works next year remains to be seen. At the moment, there are many discussions at Williams about whether Logan Sargeant is the right one, but he has also become faster recently. It is difficult to say whether a seat will become available for Mick somewhere," Schumacher said.
