Recently, speculation emerged in the Mexican media that Max Verstappen's car is faster than the RB19 driven by Sergio Perez. The story arose after remarks by businessman Arturo Elias Ayub, the son-in-law of Carlos Slim, one of the big backers behind Perez. F1 analyst Peter Windsor elaborated on the rumours on his YouTube channel.

In an interview on Fox Latin America, Ayub revealed,"Verstappen cannot make such a difference. No driver can make such a difference. Max's car just has to be much faster than Perez's." Earlier, the Briton, who has a rich past in Formula 1, called the rumours nonsense. In an analysis video, Windsor further elaborates on the situation.

'Perez stoking the fire'

"The Mexican media have got right on the back of that. They are really going for it. Checo, I am sure, will in his own quiet way, be fanning the flames in the background." According to Windsor, the idea that the two Red Bull drivers have different cars should be shot down immediately. "None of this is real. But to try to understand the point of view, where and how would they be messing around with checo’s car and not give him a proper race car?"

Windsor, who himself worked for Ferrari and Williams in the past, cannot understand. "The [idea] that Red Bull would deliberately make his car heavier or put old bits on the car that would easily break, is just so ridiculous. There is absolutely no way in the world you would ever compromise the performance of a car deliberately." Sergio Perez is currently second in the world championship. After 12 races, the gap to teammate Verstappen is 125 points.
