Las Vegas with tight schedule: 'Last three months will be hectic'
The Las Vegas Grand Prix is scheduled for mid-November, which means three months of preparation remain. Currently, people are working very hard to get the paddock building finished on time. It will be a race against time, but people are confident that everything will be finished on time.
Las Vegas Review Journal spoke to Terry Miller, leader of the project. According to Miller, the work is on schedule and by mid-October, the permit can be applied for to actually occupy the building then. There is then another month left to fit out and adapt entire building to Formula 1's needs.
Construction of the paddock building began last November and the building is now 80 per cent complete. That it was tackled in a big way is evident from the fact that the 300,000-square-metre structure covers four floors.
No expense has been spared, then. Because effort is certainly involved. 450 workmen are currently working on the conversion. Not only during the day, but also at night, people are working to get everything finished just in time. "We’ll be there in time for the race event, absolutely. These last three months are going to be very hectic," Miller said.
