Which driver did Fernando Alonso learn the most from? 'A machine'
Fernando Alonso has been racing in Formula 1 for many years. The veteran made his debut for Minardi in 2001 and has since won two world titles and 32 victories. From which driver has the Spaniard learnt the most in his career? In conversation with DAZN, he answers that.
The 42-year-old Spaniard has seen many a driver come and go in his prolific F1 career. Except for one interlude, he has been a constant factor in a sport which is so changeable. While Alonso himself is a role model for several drivers, he used to look up to Michael Schumacher the most. "On the track, I learned from all my rivals. But when it comes to precision and dedication, Michael was certainly an example. When I started, he dominated the sport and won non-stop."
'Schumacher a machine'
When Alonso debuted in the premier class of motorsport, Schumacher was fighting for his fourth world title. "You then look at the champions, how they do things and what kind of dedication they have. In that respect, Michael was just a machine." Alonso praised his discipline: "He had that in everything he did. I learnt a lot from him in my early years." In 2006, Alonso eventually won his second world title after a fantastic title battle with the great German driver.
