Still improving Red Bull? 'One more real step to come'
- Sam Godber
In Hungary, Red Bull Racing will come up with the final upgrade package of 2023. That does not mean there will be another step with this year's dominant RB19. That's what chief engineer Paul Monaghan promises.
Red Bull is so far ahead of its rivals in the 2023 F1 season that it is almost impossible for the other constructors to catch up. Max Verstappen also seems to be heading for his third personal F1 world title. Red Bull's motto this year was to strike early and then quickly focus on developing the 2024 car. Something Red Bull seems to have succeeded in.
Red Bull not yet done with development RB19
Red Bull is already focusing on next year's car. Christian Horner said this after the arrival of the 'final upgrade package' in Hungary. There appears to be an upgrade coming this season after all. Dutch Motorsport.com cites Monaghan: "There is at least one more real step coming up with the RB19 before the end of this season, a step that is therefore already fixed now."
Monaghan also does not rule out some upgrades to the RB19 after this step. In doing so, the engineer does mention that these unplanned upgrades will only be brought if they can also mean something for the development of the 2024 Red Bull.
