After the summer break is now over, once again, rain is a talking point in Formula 1. Earlier, the Emilia Romagna GP had to be cancelled, and since May, every weekend had some rain along the way. Max Verstappen, George Russell, Daniel Ricciardo and Fernando Alonso commented on the possibility of some rain in Zandvoort.

"Slippery. Yeah, I'm afraid it's going to be very slippery. I don't know, a bit of new tarmac, but when it's wet it's a bit more slippery than in the dry. But you adjust to it. It's a bit different to the last two years, of course, but I think also we were probably a bit spoiled the last two years with the weather around this time, more or less. At the end of the day, it's the same for everyone," Verstappen began about a possible rainy day in Zandvoort.

He also pointed out that it feels like rain is a regular occurance nowadays. "Every race weekend we've had some sort of rain."

Russell also shared the defending champion’s thoughts. "Yeah, same as Max. I think it will be slippery in parts. Probably a bit of a challenge, but same for everyone. We're kind of used to it right now. It feels like every single race is [rainy]. So, maybe we need to start developing the cars for the wet instead of the dry," the Briton said jokingly.

Alonso on the other hand, also commented on the visibility issues. "I think visibility will be the biggest concern. It's a short circuit, so the gaps between the cars will be quite short."

Ricciardo has a solution: 'Ask the local'

After asking a reporter on the weather, Daniel Ricciardo thought the best solution is to ask Verstappen on what is expected in terms of rain at Zandvoort. "Let's ask the local. Do you have a weather update," Ricciardo told Verstappen jokingly.

Verstappen was quick to answer. "One minute. Getting the phone out. Yeah, I mean, Saturday probably a bit worse than Sunday."

Ricciardo also asked for some driving tips if the rain comes. "Do you think the last corner is full in the wet? Do you think the last corner is going to be full?" However, Verstappen wants his former teammate to try that for himself. "You try it first. It's [with the] DRS open."
