Perez looking forward to weekend in Zandvoort after Friday practices
- Toby McLuskie
Sergio Perez had a good Friday in Zandvoort today, finishing fourth and seventh in FP1 and FP2, but is aware that he will need to be on top form tomorrow and Sunday, as he feels the 'grid is looking really tight out there, once again.'
"It [FP1 and FP2] was positive, plenty of information," Perez said in a conversation with GPblog and others, before adding: "We went through most of the compounds, especially in the high fuels, so there is plenty of information for our team. It's looking very tight, so I'm looking forward to the rest of the weekend."
When questioned about how the track had been on the first day of action, the Mexican held his positive standpoint and only complained about dust covering the track in the final sector.
Qualifying is a major priority for Perez
To finish off, the Red Bull driver emphasised the need to perform well tomorrow in qualifying and secure a strong grid position to really boast the race pace that the team has shown throughout this season, he said: "We just have to bring everything and try to get the perfect lap out together to make sure that we qualify where we should and then show our race pace. I think it's all very tight. I think if tomorrow we are able to have a strong qualifying, there's no reason why we shouldn't be high up and have a strong performance."
