Alonso happy with updates Aston Martin: "Definitely a step in the right direction"
Aston Martin started the 2023 Formula 1 season ironclad and was clearly the second team behind Red Bull Racing. However, as the season progressed, the Silverstone-based team was overtaken by rival teams. Fernando Alonso was in better shape again on Friday and Saturday at Zandvoort, thanks to a successful update.
Updates Aston Martin working
Aston Martin are running a new floor at Zandvoort, which seems to be working positively for the team, Alonso explained to various media, including GPblog."The car felt better, but also the data confirmed that the new upgrade was working as expected in the wind tunnel, so definitely a step forward," said the 42-year-old Spaniard.
Alonso thanks the people at the factory for their hard work lately, which seems to have paid off. "I think it definitely is a step in the right direction. We obviously need more. We always ask for more. [The] competition is really strong. McLaren, even Williams, they were very strong this weekend as well," he continued.
"So this shows how tight everything is, but it seems that we understood a few of the things that went wrong a few races ago for us. We are taking the right path again, and this is very interesting also, not for this year, but also for next year," said the two-time world champion.
