Gasly happy with podium finish: 'I'm super pleased for the guys!'
- Toby McLuskie
Pierre Gasly will be partying for the next coming days as he has just claimed third place in the Dutch Grand Prix. The Frenchman had a tough race as he battled to hold on to his top-five position with his five-second penalty, but after the red flag, was handed a bit of luck. Sergio Perez was handed a five-second penalty of his own, meaning that the two would switch places following the chequered flag.
"Let's go!" he exclaimed in the pit lane after the race, before adding: "What a race. It hasn't been the easiest start to the year, [I'm] just trying to improve race by race. [It's been] good to have time off and [but also go] straight into it."
When questioned about the podium itself, he couldn't contain his happiness but also remembered to praise his team for the work they've put in, he said: "We had a third place in the Sprint, but it wasn't a normal podium so I'm super pleased for the guys. I was upset I got a five-second penalty earlier in the race and I said 'now it's one-one,' after Perez got his. I tried to push as hard as I could to stay within five seconds. It was a long challenging race, but perfectly executed by all the guys."
