Fernando Alonso visibly enjoyed his second-place finish in the Dutch Grand Prix. The 42-year-old Spaniard drove a strong race and took another podium finish this season. In addition, Alonso posted some clever overtaking moves in the Hugenholtz corner. In a press moment with the likes of GPblog, he's proudly looking back on it.

Seventh podium finish for Alonso

Alonso took his seventh podium finish this season by finishing second at Zandvoort. The Aston Martin driver showed good pace on both a dry and wet track and was also voted Driver of the Day by the fans. Alonso also impressed with some bold overtaking on the inside of turn three, the small bowl corner.

Alonso begins, "I mean, when it was FP1 or FP2, it was wet, and in one of the outlaps, I let a few cars go on the normal racing line, and I found a lot of grip on the inside by just letting people go. So it kept in my head all the time on the weekend in case it was wet, and I was ready to try again." On the grid, Alonso immediately noticed the raindrops and admits he still had no idea where the grip would be found.

Overtaking in Hugenholtz corner

Once the Spaniard had made the switch to intermediates, he started looking for grip. He eventually found that again on the inside of Hugenholtz corner. Alonso hopes his overtaking will once again be voted for the overtake of the month: "I thought everyone would be a little bit cautious in turn 3 with the grip level. And also, just outside turn 3, there is the painting, the Aramco, so you have to get a little bit cautious there. I thought about the inside line and if it could work, and yeah, we overtook those two cars, and definitely, that should be the overtake of the month again. I hope!"
