Formula 2 unveils new 2024 car with remarkable rear wing
- Toby McLuskie
The new Formula 2 car was announced on Thursday in Monza during the Italian Grand Prix weekend. The Formula 2 championship is held with identical cars for all drivers. The car for 2024 is slightly different and the rear wing in particular stands out.
Formula 2 championship
The Formula 2 championship is the stepping-up class for Formula 1. It mainly features juniors from Formula 1 teams, who can develop there. Every F2 team drives the same chassis, which is made by Dallara. Because the cars are identical, the driver has to make the difference and thus show himself to the Formula 1 teams.
New Formula 2 car
The new generation of F2 cars was unveiled at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza on Thursday. This car will be driven until 2026. What immediately stands out is the unusual rear wing, which has a remarkable, rounded shape.
"The design philosophy of the new car, which will be raced in the 2024, 2025 and 2026 seasons, is to give young drivers who aspire to race in Formula 1 the best preparation, by making it as close to an F1 car as possible in terms of safety, look, systems, performance, sustainability and accessibility, all at reasonable costs. Moreover, the nose, front and rear wings and floor have been designed to encourage wheel-to-wheel racing, which will lead to thrilling on-track action."
