Hamilton: 'Not looking for revenge or redemption'
- Toby McLuskie
Lewis Hamilton has signed a two-year deal with Mercedes and will therefore drive in F1 until at least his 40s. After confirming the news, the Briton was immediately asked if he is looking for revenge or redemption in his upcoming partnership with Mercedes after the lost 2021 championship.
Ahead of the Italian Grand Prix, Hamilton speaks to the press at Monza. The news of the day are the extended contracts of both Mercedes drivers. Not only has Hamilton's contract been extended by two years, but the partnership between Mercedes and Russell will also continue until 2025.
Hamilton is not seeking revenge or redemption after Abu Dhabi 2021
During the press briefing, it is noted that Hamilton was quite affected by the title he lost after 2021, just before his previous contract extension at Mercedes, after being beaten by Max Verstappen in Abu Dhabi. That remark was accompanied by the question of whether he is looking for revenge.
Hamilton: "I'm not really a revenge person. It's not about revenge. It's not about redemption. We know that is in the past. There's nothing you can do about the past. But what we can do is work harder and be more precise and be better moving forwards. And I truly believe that with this team, we can win more world championships and more races together. So that's where all my energy is going."
