Driver changes at AlphaTauri: 'More trouble for the team'
This season, Yuki Tsunoda has already had three different teammates. Due to a lay-off and a crash with major consequences, AlphaTauri's driver pair has been changing regularly since the Hungarian Grand Prix. Tsunoda reveals that little has changed for himself, but does see the changes causing problems for the team.
Tsunoda's focus is on own result
The AlphaTauri driver started the season alongside Nyck de Vries until his dismissal prior to the Hungarian Grand Prix. Daniel Ricciardo took the Dutchman's spot, but during an unfortunate crash at Zandvoort, the Australian broke his hand. Debutant Liam Lawson took his place and will also drive alongside Tsunoda at Monza. Asked if the Japanese himself is struggling with this, he replied:"It's okay. I think in the end, I just have to focus on what I have to do. The things I have to do are the same as usual. Score points have good results."
Tsunoda, however, reveals that the changes between drivers does make things a bit trickier for AlphaTauri. "More trouble for the team. It's not easy. It's like changing to another driver in one week. It's very difficult. But I think the team is doing a good job. And also all the drivers are doing a good job so far as well. Same for Daniel [Ricciardo] as well. Daniel has to get used to it more." Speaking about his new teammate, the Japanese driver is also good. "He[Ricciardo] had a good session, and right after he got an unfortunate incident, Liam just jumped into the FP3. He did well in the qualifying and race. I think we're all working well," Tsunoda said.
