Horner gives Hamilton grandiose compliment: 'Most successful'
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton extended his contract at Mercedes a few days ago. There were initially many rumours that the British driver might go to Ferrari, but Hamilton will be still racing at Mercedes after he turns 40. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur and McLaren team boss Andrea Stella are very positive about the 38-year-old driver.
What do Horner, Vasseur and Stella think of Hamilton's extension?
"I think it's great that he's extended. He's a big name in Formula 1. He's a global name throughout the sport, and obviously the most successful driver in Formula 1's history. For him to be extending that relationship is good news for the sport," said Max Verstappen's team boss.
Vasseur had seen the extension of the Englishman from Stevenage coming: " I think that, personally, but I'm not the only one, we were not surprised with the extension. It's good for the sport. I think that Lewis is a mega driver. It's very important for F1 to keep him on board, and he's still doing a mega job," the Frenchman revealed.
McLaren team boss Stella makes the comparison with another driver on the current Formula 1 grid. "Specifically for Fernando, knowing him well, I'm not surprised that he can do that because of his ethos, his talent, his intelligence. It's very interesting for everyone to see that you can achieve that even if age keeps clocking."
