Mick Schumacher and Guenther Steiner have not been very comfortable with each other during their time together at Haas F1. From the outside, they did not always make it seem that way, but Uncle Ralf Schumacher lashed out several times in the media at Steiner and his way of working (together). Schumacher drove for Haas F1 between 2021 and 2022 but never became completely uncontested. Last year, he had little to offer against Kevin Magnussen, so his contract was not renewed. Some heavy crashes also caused a lot of costs and a lot of extra work for the American racing stable. Schumacher was replaced by Nico Hulkenberg.

That the German did not get the most out of it, according to himself, has not only to do with himself. " You cannot assume that a driver performs optimally if you do not support him in the right way," he shares at Sky, seemingly sneering at Steiner and Haas F1. At Mercedes, as a test and reserve driver, he experiences "what it should really be like". "The two years [at Haas] were overwhelmingly not that."

Schumacher wants to return to F1

Schumacher's first goal has been achieved, which was to reach Formula 1. The second goal is to become the world champion in the premier class of motorsport. But for that, he has to return first. Hard work is being done on that. "But at the moment, there is little movement. Many drivers are already fixed or have contracts that only expire at the end of next year. Therefore, unfortunately, there is also a Plan B," said the 24-year-old driver, who did not elaborate on what that plan entails.
