Race strategy Italian GP | Ferrari and Red Bull with a tyre advantage?
As usual, Pirelli has announced ahead of a Grand Prix what it expects to be the fastest strategy. The Italian tyre manufacturer indicates that a one-stop will be the fastest for the race at Monza. Also, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing have a tyre advantage over the rest of the field.
Strategy for the Italian Grand Prix
Pirelli reveals that the one-stop can be done in two ways. Either medium or soft tyres can be started and then changed to hard tyres. The Formula 1 tyre supplier does say that it is faster to start on the medium tyres. A two-stopper does not seem to be an issue for the race at Monza.
Ferrari and Red Bull have small advantage
In terms of tyres available to drivers for the race, Ferrari and Red Bull have an advantage over the competition. In fact, these are the only two teams that still have a brand new set of the hard tyres left for the Italian Grand Prix. Almost all drivers will still be able to use a new set of medium tyres during the race. Alexander Albon is the only driver without a single set of fresh tyres for the race at Monza.
