Record-breaking win didn't come naturally for Verstappen: 'That's what makes it fun'
It was not the easiest of tasks for Max Verstappen, but the Red Bull Racing driver still managed to record his tenth Formula 1 victory in a row, putting Sebastian Vettel's record on his name for good.
Verstappen makes history with tenth win in a row
"I never would have believed it was possible but we had to work for it today and that made it a lot more fun," Verstappen said of his tenth consecutive F1 victory. "We had good pace but they had a lot of top speed so it was hard to get close and get the move into Turn 1 so I had to force him [Sainz] into a mistake."
"Luckily it came at some point where he locked up. I tried to stay patient then just had to pick my moment," he added. That moment followed an exciting battle with Sainz, with whom Verstappen drove side by side until the Roggia corners. Verstappen was on the inside at the end of the straight, after which he took the lead.
