Sergio Perez had a strong weekend in Monza. The Mexican finished second after a thrilling race. After the race, Perez reacted on the spot after getting out of his Red Bull.

In the Netherlands, the Red Bull driver still finished fourth, but this weekend the Mexican could stand on the podium again. He started fifth, but it was soon clear that he was a lot faster than the men in front of him. Towards the end of the race, he was finally able to climb to the podium. First he overtook Leclerc, and after several battles for P2 with Sainz, he still overtook the Ferrari driver.

Perez's reaction after the Italian Grand Prix

"It was the maximum we could have achieved today, it was so difficult to overtake, a lot harder than we really thought," Perez began. "It was really insane because I had to use a lot of my tyres."

Perez continued: "In the end we managed to get both of them. I think we’ve done a lot of progress. On the setup side I’m feeling a lot more comfortably in the car. So I do expect that we will see the best form in the next races."
