Complimentary Verstappen full of praise for Red Bull: 'We should be very proud'
- Toby McLuskie
Max Verstappen towers over everyone this season when it comes to points in the world championship. The two-time and reigning champion looks set to become the best in the king class for the third time in a row. The performance of the Red Bull team and the RB19 is not always as simple as it seems, Verstappen says.
"Of course, we are having an incredible season. But it’s not like we just rock up and go, ‘ah, let’s just do this, this weekend’," the Dutchman told RaceFans.com. According to Verstappen, it takes a lot of effort from everyone in the team to do it so well
Not always easy for Verstappen and Red Bull
Verstappen also indicates that due to the many changeable weather conditions during the race weekends in 2023, together with a number of other factors, it was often difficult for his team to make the right decisions. According to the Dutchman, Red Bull hardly made any mistakes in this. "I think we can be very proud of that. And of course it’s never good, it’s never perfect. But what we’re doing in the moment, I think we can be very proud," said the 25-year-old son of Jos Verstappen.
"Of course every car looks very different, but even when you have a dominant car, you don’t nail the set-up, it’s not going to look good. So we spend a lot of time on trying to optimise things," Verstappen concluded.
