It had been in the air for a long time and at Monza it was there: Max Verstappen broke Sebastian Vettel's record in terms of most consecutive wins. After the Italian Grand Prix, Verstappen stands at 10 wins in a row, Vettel did not get beyond nine. However, the German does not mind at all that his record has been broken.
Vettel wishes it to Verstappen
After the Monza race, Vettel reportedly already sent Verstappen an app with congratulations. In an interview with Sportschau, the four-time world champion further elaborates on the performance of the two-time world champion and his team Red Bull Racing.
"You can only applaud. The performance of the whole team, but especially that of Max, who is consistent every weekend, is amazing. It's a level where the competition is way off. You have to acknowledge that and you have to leave it that way. That's why it's great that you can experience this," Vettel said.
Vettel in touch with Red Bull
Vettel won his four world championships with Red Bull Racing from 2010 to 2013. The German says there is still contact with his old team. "There are still some exchanges taking place. The guys have a lot to do and travel a lot, but I know them all. I am in contact, occasionally by phone, and I am still involved in one way or another."
