Lizard seemingly killed in collision with Alonso
The first free practice session was marked by yellow flags caused by several lizards entering the track. It was reminiscent of 2016, when Max Verstappen reported a 'giant lizard' on the track. On Friday, the Dutchman suggested that 'Godzilla might have had a baby'.
The deadly incident did not appear live on screen, but onboard footage from Alonso's Aston Martin shows that it was almost impossible for the Spaniard to avoid the critter. It may just be a slightly macabre explanation as to why the marshals at the spot in question indicated that the track was 'slippery'.
