Marko gets a warning from FIA
Marko received a storm of criticism after statements he made about the Mexican driver allegedly having form fluctuations because of his South American heritage. The 80-year-old Austrian apologised both publicly and in a private conversation with Perez for his comments.
"We can confirm that Helmut Marko, who is an advisor to the team, has received a written warning and has been reminded of his responsibilities as a public figure in motorsport in line with the FIA code of ethics," the statement read according to Sky Sports.
Christian Horner responded to the commotion on behalf of Red Bull, and Max Verstappen also gave his opinion. Lewis Hamilton made a clear assessment, and Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff also stated that there is "no place for such thinking" in Formula 1.
