Qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix is about to start. Red Bull Racing missed out on pole position to Carlos Sainz last time out in Italy, and that could be the case again following the data produced from FP1 and FP2. It looks like several teams have a chance of beating Red Bull and therefore setting an interesting grid for Sunday's race. Follow qualifying with this liveblog below.

Ferrari had the quickest car over one lap in Italy, and surprisingly, that was also the case in FP1 and FP2 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Mercedes were also close with George Russell Lewis Hamilton was four-tenths down and Fernando Alonso was just under four-tenths shy. The two-time World Champion found himself far ahead of  teammate Lance Stroll was in 14th place. The Red Bulls were as far back as P7 and P8, meaning Christian Horner's team of engineers had a lot of overnight work to complete.

Perez is the fastest of the two Red Bulls but is just under seven-tenths short of Sainz's fastest time. Verstappen is slightly slower than Perez and is just over seven-tenths short of the fastest time. It is a gap you don't just close overnight; if anyone can, Red Bull can.

This track is well known for requiring maximum downforce setups as well as a very good mechanical balance because of the bumpy nature of the asphalt (being a street circuit, in fact, most of the track is used every day as a normal street) and the extreme hot temperatures, which are killer for the tyres. However, this year the teams will have to tackle two main changes: a new final sector (which now has a 400-meter straight instead of a couple of twisty chicanes) and a new technical directive, the TD018, which could affect the battle for the P2 in the championship.
