Sainz and Leclerc agree: 'Wait and see what the team choose'
Red Bull Racing's weekend hasn't gone well so far. It does seem to be turning out positively for Ferrari. Carlos Sainz starts the Singapore Grand Prix in pole position, and Charles Leclerc also gets to start from a favourable position, third. The two drivers of the Italian Scuderia will address possible team orders during the race on Sunday.
"I'm sure that the characteristics of the track won't allow us to have the nice battles and the great wheel-to-wheel racing that we had in Monza," Sainz said. "We will be looking to see everything that we can do to beat the Mercedes, to get the cars into one-two, and I'm sure that the team will again prioritize the overall team result and try to get the win," the Spaniard continued.
Leclerc agrees with Sainz
"I agree," said the Monegasque. "I think in Monza, the track helps those create those fights but again, I believe the philosophy will be the same if we are under pressure from Mercedes. I'm pretty sure that the positions will be fixed if we have all the other cars quite far behind, which I hope will be the case. Then it's what the team opt for, but at the end, we'll follow whatever we have been told," Leclerc concluded.
Sainz previously explained a possible comeback by Max Verstappen. Among other things, the Ferrari driver said that Red Bull Racing can't be ruled out.
