At the start of the season, Aston Martin was the second force in Formula 1, behind Red Bull Racing. The momentum has since shifted a little more towards Mercedes and Ferrari. Aston Martin now occupies fourth place among constructors and the Singapore Grand Prix ended in disappointment. Yet they do not despair at the British racing stable.

"We have seen since the start of the season that the margins are incredibly small. We have a competitive car. We knew we would be better in Singapore than in Monza. Some circuits suit our car better," Dan Fallows told AS. The technical director is confident of scoring a few more podium finishes later this season.

There was more pace in the AMR23 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit than at the Italian Grand Prix, but points unfortunately did not result. Lance Stroll did not start after his heavy crash a day earlier in qualifying. Fernando Alonso was on course for points, but eventually finished 15th after a failed pit stop, among other things.

Updates Aston Martin

Meanwhile, McLaren has also definitely joined the (sub)top: yet another competitor for Aston Martin. The Woking-based racing stable came up with a very large package of updates in Singapore, whereas Aston Martin brought a lot fewer updates in recent months. Team boss Mike Krack's team seems to have less budget left to continue developing significantly. Or the focus is already on 2024.

Fallows commented: "There is no doubt that it is a very tough race against the top teams. We have not stopped developing the car and we will continue to do so until the end of the season. We are ready to fight," it sounds combative.
