Verstappen frustrated with criticism: 'Then you're not a real fan'
- Cas van de Kleut
Max Verstappen will be looking to recover this weekend after Singapore. Whereas he was dominant all year, in Singapore he did not get beyond fifth place in the race. This weekend, the Dutchman can take his 13th win.
It has been a successful year for Red Bull Racing. It won everything until the Singapore Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Ferrari also has a victory behind its name, after Verstappen and Red Bull struggled badly in the night race. Verstappen said on Thursday morning that he expects he and his team would be ahead of the competition again this weekend.
Verstappen done with criticism
There has been a fair amount of criticism of Red Bull's dominance. For instance, the sport is said to have become boring because there is no fight for the world title. According to Verstappen, this criticism is unjustified, he told De Telegraaf: "In my view, our dominance was not wrong for the sport either. We just did it better than others. If people cannot appreciate that, then you are not a real fan. In Singapore, other teams did better than us and also deserved to win. Because they performed better, not because some people might have found it boring before that."
