Next weekend could just be the weekend that Red Bull Racing claims the drivers' championship. The Japanese Grand Prix is scheduled and that means new chances for Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen to recover after the loss in Singapore. Perez gives his explanation on a possible championship for the Austrian racing stable.

Red Bull would need to gain one more point than Mercedes if the team is to become champion. On paper, Ferrari could also still take the title. In that case, it would have to gain 24 more points than Red Bull in Japan anyway, otherwise, they are definitely hopeless. Red Bull taking the championship at Suzuka therefore does not seem an impossible task.

Perez on possible Red Bull championship in Japan

"It will be very special to do that here in front of all our Honda supporters," the Red Bull Racing driver from Guadalajara told us. "They've been working extremely hard on the engine side as well so it will be nice to to get it done this weekend," Perez continued.

Despite being frustrated (in his emotion of racing) at times with Red Bull, Perez still has words of praise ready. "Yeah I think the team is operating at an extreme level in all areas, on strategy, all the mechanics, reliability issues and so on has been really on top form," the Mexican driver told reporters before the Grand Prix at Suzuka.
