Verstappen, Perez and six others get new engine at the Japanese Grand Prix
Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez start the Grand Prix weekend in Japan with a new engine. For both Red Bull Racing drivers, it does not result in a grid penalty, and Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, among others, have also opted for a new engine.
New engine, no grid penalty for Verstappen and Perez
Seven drivers have received a new engine for the Japan Grand Prix. Besides Verstappen, Perez, Hamilton and Alonso, Oscar Piastri, Lance Stroll and Logan Sargeant have also received a new engine.
For all the drivers, the engine change does not result in a grid penalty. They are all up to their fourth engine of the year, which now means they are at the maximum. In addition to a new engine, Hamilton and Stroll have also opted for a new gearbox, with no grid penalties as a result.
