Magnussen disapproves of Perez: 'It was a desperate move'
- Cas van de Kleut
Sergio Perez did not show his best side in Japan. The Mexican was involved in several incidents, eventually dropping out. Kevin Magnussen also fell victim to a mistake by the Red Bull driver. The Dane is therefore not happy with his colleague's action.
Magnussen was not the only one hit after Checo's action. Max Verstappen 's teammate also collided with Lewis Hamilton on lap one. Perez himself was a particular victim of this action, as he had to have his front wing replaced. The incident with Magnussen did not leave the Mexican unscathed either: after a pit stop, it was still decided to retire the car due to the damage.
Magnussen not happy with Perez
Magnussen spun due to the incident with Perez. He is therefore not happy with Checo's action: "I got hit on the rear tire, it was a pretty desperate move, but it is what it is. I got spun around, and then we had to pit – that was too early for the two-stop strategy with the tire degradation that we have on our car. It made the situation a lot worse by pitting at that point and I didn’t really want to do a three-stop, so it really ended our race."
