In Las Vegas, people are working round the clock to get everything ready for the Grand Prix in the US city on 18 November. During this work, a construction worker was killed, the Las Vegas police have informed. It is still unclear exactly what happened.

Police have announced that a workplace accident took place near the Bellagio Fountains last Saturday. After a report of the incident was received, emergency services on the scene found a man with a large cut in his neck. He was immediately taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Accident investigation

The US labour department has launched an investigation into the sad incident. The local Las Vegas Journal newspaper asked the Grand Prix organisers for a comment, but received no response.

Formula 1 is hugely looking forward to the race through the gambling city, but in the run-up the organisers regularly know the spotlight is on them due to negative publicity. Just recently, it was announced that the paddock in Las Vegas will soon not be called 'paddock', out of respect for the relatives of the mass murder in the city by a man named Paddock. There were also complaints from local residents about the chaos in the city because of the Grand Prix's build-up work. The organisers also revealed that it is going to be hectic in the final period before the race, but there is the expectation that everything will be ready in time.
