'Norris, Russell, Leclerc and Sainz can all win the world title'

Max Verstappen, at least in terms of points, stands head and shoulders above everyone else this season. After the summer break, competition comes mainly from Ferrari and McLaren. Carlos Sainz was the only one to finish ahead of a Red Bull driver this season in Singapore. McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri also seem to have found their feet in the current Formula 1 season. Karun Chandhok says Norris and a host of other drivers could well win the world title.
Norris high on shopping lists
"Lando Norris is at the top of the shopping list for Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes if they ever wanted to change drivers," Chandhok told OLGB. " They've all got good drivers now, so there isn't a situation where they need to change drivers," the 39-year-old Indian informed.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko said weeks ago that Norris would be a nice addition at the Austrian racing stable. Perez is regularly criticised for not being close enough to Verstappen in the World Drivers' Championship. Marko also talked about the cause of the Mexican's poorer performance here.
Norris and the F1 world championship
"What he can achieve in his career depends on the car and the team that he finds himself at," Chandhok said. "This new generation of Lando Norris, George Russell, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have all got the ability to fight and win the world championship if they're in the right car at the right time," he concludes.
For now, a move by Norris to Red Bull Racing does not seem to be on the cards, as the Briton still has a contract running at McLaren until the end of 2024. Just a few weeks ago, teammate Oscar Piastri extended his contract at McLaren. He did so until the end of 2026.
