Christian Horner gave a candid interview to Sky Sports. As always, the Red Bull team boss again made some interesting comments. Among other things, Horner looked back at the time when Mercedes was the dominant team.

That was not an easy time, according to the outspoken team boss: "We had a long period, six to seven seasons, of hurt, of being the bridesmaid, but we never lost sight of where we wanted to be." Horner also gave insight into his relationship with his great rival, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff. "For me, sport is about rivalry. It's great to have a rivalry. There has to be respect, but sport isn't sport without rivalry."

Mercedes working on return

Red Bull's British team boss does think that Mercedes is working on a comeback in the background: "I'm sure he's plotting. I'm sure he's got something that they're working on. They're a great team. They're a big team. They've got great drivers. They'll be looking to fight back."

Not always dominant

Horner assumes that Red Bull's current period of dominance will also come to an end at some point, as happened with Mercedes before: "Everything goes in cycles. At some point, somebody will beat us. Whether it's Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin or whoever, we don't know, but all we can control is what we're doing, and so that's what we're focused on. We're focused on ourselves."

Red Bull won the constructors' championship in Japan and currently have 623 points. Mercedes are second with 305 points but can still be overtaken by Ferrari, who have scored 285 points.
