Max Verstappen managed to win ten races in a row from the Miami Grand Prix to the Italian Grand Prix. The Dutchman started the season with two wins from four races, but now has 13 out of 16 to his name. Speaking to De Telegraaf, Max and Jos Verstappen talk about the button that flipped in the Red Bull driver's head during the Baku Grand Prix, the last race he did not win for his ten-race run.

Verstappen found rhythm in Baku

In Azerbaijan, teammate Sergio Perez got into the lead, and also won the race. Verstappen knew he would not manage to win the race towards the end of the Grand Prix, and so he adjusted things on his steering wheel, trying things with the car. Father Jos discussed the adjustments with his son after the race in Baku: "He said, 'I think I've found it now, what we need to do.' And he was also just keen to prove that afterwards. He was and is full on with his team of engineers. It is certainly not a given to win 10 races in a row, as Max did after that race in Baku."

Since the winter tests in Bahrain, Verstappen Jr. has been working with performance engineer Richard Cooke, who replaced Tom Hart due to private circumstances. Right on the weekend when the Dutchman could become champion, Hart returns. Despite that, Cooke will be there as usual. Jos says: "We do think Richard should be there. Max has worked with him all year, then it would be weird if he is not there the weekend he can become champion. I don't think that's right."
