Despite still having the Grand Prix tomorrow, today's Sprint race is the most important action of the weekend for Max Verstappen. The Dutchman can claim his third World Championship title in this evening's action at the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix weekend, but will he succeed? How can Verstappen become world champion during the sprint race?
Verstappen is only three points short of the world title, which in turn means that teammate Sergio Perez (during the sprint race) cannot get more than five points more than Verstappen. The World Championship leader obviously wants to seize his chance to cash in on the world title right away.
Red Bull Racing already became the Constructors' champion in Japan at Suzuka, so the title is already taken, but behind them, there is still an exciting battle going on. Ferrari is battling Mercedes for second place among constructors. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell together have twenty points more than Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc so this sprint race could also provide nice bonus points in the battle for P2.
