Horner proud after Verstappen’s title: ‘He is up their with the best’
Christian Horner was cheerful after Max Verstappen mathematically claimed his third world drivers’ championship title after the sprint race in Qatar. Red Bull now have won two back-to-back constructors’ and three back-to-back drivers’ title in Formula 1.
"It was a massive race, a tough race. I think three safety cars sort of killed our strategy a bit, but congratulations to Oscar on his first sprint race win," Horner told Viaplay following the sprint race.
"And for Max, three-time world champion, I called out some of the names to him that he now joins. Brabham, Senna, Stewart, Lauda, Piquet, he's up there with the best, some of the best of the best," the Briton praised his Dutch driver.
However, Horner also underlined that Red Bull want to do well in the remaining races as well. "Look, there's still a lot more racing to go this year, so we just want to keep this magic moment going."
'Just non-alcoholic drinks'
As there is a race to go this weekend, Red Bull cannot celebrate this evening too much. "I think we'll have a few non-alcoholic drinks tonight because there's a Grand Prix tomorrow, but it's important to celebrate the moment," Horner explained tonight’s plan.
