Belgian Grand Prix to 2025 on Formula 1 calendar
The Belgian Grand Prix will also be on the calendar for the 2025 Formula 1 season. The Spa-Francorchamps circuit has long been under pressure from several other events, but F1 has now announced a longer contract.
The Belgian Grand Prix is a unique event on the F1 calendar. The race was first held in 1950 and organised 56 times since then. Spa-Francorchamps is a popular circuit among drivers and fans. With the arrival of Max Verstappen, the grandstands around the circuit are also sold out every year.
Spa has been under pressure for some time. Formula 1 is also looking at other races and would be particularly interested in a Grand Prix in South Africa. That has so far failed to get off the ground, so Belgium's contract is always extended by one year. This is the first time in ages that Belgium has security for more than one year again.
The Belgian Grand Prix was already guaranteed a place on the F1 calendar for 2024. As in 2023, the race will be held at Spa-Francorchamps before the summer break, on the weekend of 26 to 28 July. After the summer, F1 will return to the BeNeLux for the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.
