Verstappen gets loudly booed on podium in the United States
Max Verstappen is not exactly loved by American fans. The majority of the crowd were on Sergio Perez's side and clearly showed it after Verstappen's victory in the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas.
The Dutchman won his 50th Grand Prix in his Formula 1 career, but as he was announced on the podium and when he lifted the trophy, loud boos could be heard on the broadcast.
During the anthem, the fans could also be heard chanting 'Checo, Checo' in support of Verstappen's Red Bull teammate, Perez. Booing is something that has slowly crept into Formula 1 over recent years and has been heard on various occasions in the past. This included boos aimed at both Verstappen and Hamilton in recent years.
