Verstappen laughs after discussion with Lambiase: 'I asked nicely'
Max Verstappen and Gianpiero Lambiase caused consternation over the team radio at the end of the US Grand Prix. After the race, Verstappen explains what exactly happened there.
Verstappen had a harder time than expected at the United States Grand Prix. At the Circuit of the Americas, Verstappen struggled with brake problems, which made his race a lot harder. Verstappen eventually managed to drive to the finish with those brake problems, but it was not without a struggle.
Verstappen on moment with Lambiase
After the race, Verstappen was asked about this moment during the press conference. "I just couldn't feel the brakes. I very easily locked the fronts, and I tried to adjust it, then locked the rears. And this is something very weird because normally, I never really have issues with braking. So this is just something that we need to understand why that was today, because when you're locking fronts or rears, you're also killing your tyres."
"Talking on the braking, when you're struggling already on the braking and you don't feel that confident, I politely asked to not be spoken to," Verstappen said before the media started laughing. "You're laughing, but I said please when I asked." joked Verstappen.
Lambiase and Verstappen often have moments like this during races but still seem inseparable. For a moment, it looked like Lambiase was done with it now when he said he would not see Verstappen again until Friday, but that turned out to be due to an early flight to the UK for the race engineer.
