F1 Power Rankings Hamilton beats Verstappen despite disqualification

Lewis Hamilton has beaten Max Verstappen. Not in the United States Grand Prix, but certainly in Formula1.com's Power Rankings. Despite his disqualification, the official F1 site saw the Mercedes driver drive a sterling weekend.

Formula One's official website calls Hamilton's performance over the race weekend in Austin 'the best we have seen from him all season'. The updates to the W14 seem to be working for the 38-year-old Briton. "He narrowly missed out on pole for both the Sprint and the race, and a better strategy could have seen him win on Sunday," the judges ruled. At least, had he not been disqualified afterwards.

Hamilton (9.6) scored just 0.2 points higher than Verstappen (9.4) in the Power Rankings. "The one thing that you can hold against Verstappen this weekend was that he had his pole-sealing time deleted for exceeding track limits. Apart from that, he showed no signs of letting the fact that he had won the title slow him down."

In addition, Verstappen's performance in both the sprint race and the main race was praised. "Coming through the field from sixth, while dealing with brake issues, he saw off great competition from Hamilton and Lando Norris to narrowly win his 50th F1 race."

Other standouts were Lando Norris and Yuki Tsunoda, scoring 8.6 and 8.4 respectively. The McLaren driver was already on the podium, but was promoted to second place by Hamilton's disqualification. For his part, Tsunoda picked up important points for AlphaTauri with an eighth-place finish in the race.
