Perez hopes to win his home GP: ‘I want to be perfect this weekend’
Sergio Perez is competing in his home Grand Prix in Mexico City this weekend. The Red Bull driver said that he thinks he has made progress in finding his car more comfortable, and hopes to achieve his dream victory.
"We made a lot of progress. Unfortunately, we didn't really get to show the full potential we have. With the sprint event, we ended up going in the wrong direction with the car. Like a lot of people did. Even Mercedes, Ferrari, it's what happens in those sort of events. So we ended up just taking the wrong direction with it. And I believe that we made some really good progress," Perez commented on how he feels currently in his car.
Perez’s 'biggest dream'
Being a national hero, the Red Bull driver also hopes he can achieve a race win in Mexico. "It would be insane. That's obviously my biggest dream, to achieve that this weekend. Now, full focus on tomorrow, the practice, and try to get a perfect weekend here. It's the weekend that you want to be perfect, the weekend that you want to maximise your result. If there's one particular Grand Prix that you want to winit's your home Grand Prix."
“Once I'm in the car, it's a lot easier. It's very easy, it comes naturally. But when you are out of the car or even in the paddock, you see that the attention is very different. A lot of eyes on you and a lot of support from all the crowd," 'Checo' also explained what it is like for him to race in Mexico.
