'Red Bull give rivals a headache: Yet another update in Mexico'
Bad news for Red Bull Racing's rivals: the Austrian racing team have brought updates for the Mexican Grand Prix, and these are said to be mainly focused on 2024. So Adrian Newey and his team have certainly not been idle.
Red Bull Racing no longer face a penalty for breaching the budget cap in 2021, as that penalty expired on 26 October 2023. That said, as number one among constructors, Red Bull already has to make do with the least amount of time in the wind tunnel and CFD at all. However, that does not seem to be holding back Red Bull's progress.
Red Bull scares off competition
Whereas Max Verstappen was still indicating after the US Grand Prix that the team is fully focused on 2024 and the competition will logically get closer as a result, Red Bull are coming with a new floor in Mexico after all. According to the Italian branch of Motorsport.com, this would mainly be a floor used to test things for next year. This should happen during the free practice sessions, after which it is uncertain whether the part will be on the car for the rest of the weekend.
Whether Verstappen and Sergio Perez will use the new floor this weekend will become clear during the race weekend, but one thing is certain: Red Bull are not sitting still. Despite a cost cap and limited time in the wind tunnel, they can continuously keep coming up with updates. It will possibly cause some concern for competitors, who seemed to be closing in before 2024.
