Perez's father causes sensation: 'Checo next to Verstappen for another 10 years'
Sergio Perez's father wants to put an end once and for all to rumours of irritations within Red Bull Racing. Antonio Perez Garibay claims to love Helmut Marko and also praises Max Verstappen.
Since the 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix, relations at Red Bull Racing seem to have cooled. Perez accused Verstappen of not being a team player, while Verstappen wanted to rectify something Perez had allegedly done in the past. Since then, the drivers and especially the fanbases have reportedly been at odds.
Perez's father praises Red Bull Racing
According to Perez senior, however, there is absolutely no such thing. ''This is the best relationship with a teammate Checo has ever had in his career in Formula 1. Checo will certainly drive for another 10 years with Max in the same team and in these 10 years, Checo may win a world championship. I like that my son competes with the best driver in the world and that best driver in the world is currently Max Verstappen,'' Marko told ORF.
Helmut Marko also regularly gets the heat from Mexico and in particular faced a mountain of criticism after his comment about Perez's Latin American heritage. However, Checo's father is nothing but full of praise for Marko too.
''Dr Marko is the best, the best sponsor Checo could have all over the world. He is mentally a winner and pushes Checo. I love that and I love Dr Marko!'' Perez also does not feel that people in Mexico have anything against Verstappen and Marko. ''The people of Mexico have respect for Dr Marko and the Verstappen family. You are welcome here.''
