Nobody can match Max Verstappen this season. The Dutchman has already won his third world title and the rest of the season is all about winning Grands Prix. In his current form, nobody will be surprised if the Dutchman crosses the finish line first in the remaining three Grands Prix.

His already outstanding season is going into the record books anyway. Already, the Dutchman has won 16 Grands Prix - thereby shoring up his own record from 2022. Verstappen also continues to work hard to push his huge points tally in '23 to great heights. Meanwhile, the Dutchman has 491 points.

Most points ever in an F1 season

His own record stood at 454 ('22). So it is realistic to think that Verstappen will be the first to break the magic 500-point mark in a single season. With that, the small note: the '23 season is the longest in Formula 1 history, with six sprint races on top of that.

Sergio Perez is currently (still) second in the drivers' championship. Verstappen's Mexican teammate has accumulated 240 points this year. Since the Grand Prix in Mexico, the world champion thus has more than twice as many points as Perez. The biggest margin between the world champion and the number two so far was 155 points. That was in the 2013 season when Sebastian Vettel trailed the still-active Fernando Alonso.

So, with three Grands Prix and a sprint race remaining, that record held by Vettel disappears from the books after this season.
