Only Hamilton can match Verstappen in the F1 Power Rankings
F1.com's experts have compiled the F1 Power Rankings after the Mexican Grand Prix. Race winner Max Verstappen tops the list with a 9.2 but has to share that top spot with rival Lewis Hamilton. The Mercedes driver also scored a 9.2.
About Verstappen's high mark, F1.com said: "Another weekend means another milestone for Verstappen who continues to showcase his relentless pursuit of excellence despite having already won the title […] After a shock Ferrari front row, the Dutchman squashed any hope of a Scuderia victory by taking the lead immediately into Turn 1."
Hamilton got the same ranking: "It was only sixth place in qualifying for Hamilton, so to finish second is quite the result for him and Mercedes, especially as they had struggled to replicate the pace they had shown in Austin for much of the weekend." Hamilton received praise for his overtaking manoeuvre on Charles Leclerc and his stint on the medium tyre for 37 laps.
The drivers in the top six at the Mexico GP all finished with a mark above eight. Daniel Ricciardo scored an 8.8 and, according to F1, showed that there are not many drivers on the grid who can handle him when he is comfortable in the car. Charles Leclerc finished on P3 and got an 8.6 as did Lando Norris who finished on P5. The two points Alex Albon managed to get by finishing on P9 with his Williams FW45 earned him an 8.4. Below are the full top ten.
