Horner very pleased with Perez: 'He lived up to our expectations'
Christian Horner not only saw Max Verstappen take a win in the sprint race for the Brazilian Grand Prix, he also saw Sergio Perez finish on the podium. As usual, the Red Bull Racing team boss is enthusiastic about the three-time world champion, but he also has very high praise for Perez.
Horner happy with Verstappen and Perez
Verstappen started the sprint race from second place alongside pole-sitter Lando Norris, but took the lead at the very first corner. "I'd say it was a very well-executed race. He managed the tyres very well and had good pace," Horner told Viaplay about the Dutchman's race.
Perez had a poor start and lost two places to Mercedes drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, but he managed to recover both places and cross the finish line in third place. "For Checo, it was a great recovery and good pace from him so important points for him today."
He continued: "He showed the kind of form that we expect from him and what he's capable of so it was a good performance. I think you've got a good example of race pace in that sprint race, so I’m positive for tomorrow, but there’s a lot of racing still to do."
