Verstappen jokes after statements on FIA: 'I do want to be F1 owner'
Max Verstappen would love to own Formula 1. The Dutchman said it with a smile, but the message is clear: Verstappen would do a lot of things differently than is currently being done by the high-ups.
Lando Norris feels that Formula 1 management hardly listens to the drivers. In Brazil, this was especially evident again when it came to the sprint race, but also the rules the FIA instituted to prevent chaos in qualifying. According to Verstappen, this only resulted in more chaos.
Verstappen as owner of Formula 1
Verstappen therefore had a playful answer ready when asked if he would like more of a say in such decisions. "I think it sometimes also they have too many rules that they have to take into account and too many politics as well to make a change or a decision, I think. I would like to, as GPDA, to have a say. I would like to be the owner of F1 if I could," joked the Red Bull Racing driver.
"But that's not the real world. We keep expressing our concerns, but also what has been done correctly and we keep that dialogue, I'd say, open. We try to always make them listen and we listen as well. We try to communicate and we'll see what comes out of it in the coming years."
