Only Albon outperforms Verstappen in this duel in 2023

10 November 2023 at 08:00

The most important duel in Formula 1 is the one between the two teammates. With two Grands Prix remaining in the 2023 Formula 1 season, most of the duels have been concluded. Sergio Perez and Logan Sargeant, in particular, have been behind Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon, respectively.

At Red Bull Racing, it is once again clear who is the team's number one. At the start of the season, Sergio Perez was still talking about a world title, but Max Verstappen never made it that far. On all parts, the Dutchman is outpacing his teammate, making the difference bigger again than it was in 2022.

Ferrari

Charle Leclerc has already won the qualifying duel with Carlos Sainz, but the race duel is still very exciting. Sainz did score more points than the Monegasque, so Leclerc will still have to work to turn the tide in Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi.

Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton struggled against George Russell in 2022, but has clearly stepped up in 2023. The seven-time world champion is better than Russell in every way this season. Especially in the second half of the season, Russell hardly came close.

Alpine

Pierre Gasly has set the tone in his first season at Alpine. With four years of experience with the team, you would have expected more from Esteban Ocon, but he has already been beaten in the qualifying duel and seems to be facing defeat in points in 2023 as well.

McLaren

Oscar Piastri is an upgrade over Daniel Ricciardo in all facets, especially considering the young Australian still has a lot of potential. Yet Lando Norris also has this duel won.

Guanyu Zhou has narrowed the gap with Valtteri Bottas in his second season in Formula 1, yet the Finn is still the clear leader within Alfa Romeo's team.

Aston Martin

You would almost forget, but Fernando Alonso is in his first year at Aston Martin. The Spaniard has not needed much adjustment time. Lance Stroll has been beaten all year and in his fifth season for the team.

Haas

After three years out of Formula 1, Nico Hulkenberg is still showing he is a gifted F1 driver. The German is much stronger than Kevin Magnussen especially on Saturday, but has also mostly dominated on Sunday throughout the season.

AlphaTauri

Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo have only spent five Grands Prix together in the car at AlphaTauri. In that, Tsunoda has just about had the upper hand so far, but the duel could also still go the Australian's way with two races to go.

Williams

The duel with the biggest differences is again at Williams. After Nicholas Latifi was beaten for years at the Grove-based team, Logan Sargeant has taken over that baton from the Canadian. Alexander Albon has yet to finish a race or qualifying behind his teammate, driving the American on the biggest average difference in qualifying.
