Max Verstappen finished in P3 and Sergio Perez finished in P12 in qualifying at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, but both drivers will gain a place on the grid after Carlos Sainz penalty. Christian Horner not only praised Charles Leclerc for achieving pole position today, but also expects a good race in Nevada.

After qualifying, Christian Horner said they thought Ferrari would do well in qualifying. "Not really [expected to challenge Ferrari today]. I mean, yesterday Ferrari were very quick over a lap, but I think the characteristics of their car, they worked the tyre harder. We expected that, to be honest with you, so, well done to Charles, and it's going to make an interesting race tomorrow," the Red Bull team principal told Sky Sports.

Regarding the race, Horner said: "I think it'll be different here [in terms of Verstappen getting the tyres up to temperature], but it's a track you can definitely overtake on, so it's going to make it interesting."

For Sergio Perez, it was another early exit in Q2. Horner said it was their decision of sending ‘Checo’ out early ahead of his final run. "He went a little earlier. We only took three sets of tyres in the qualifying, and to try and avoid getting caught in the traffic on the last lap, he just did the lap a little earlier and just was a tenth short."
