Carlos Sainz put his car in a fine second place during qualifying for Saturday's race, the Spaniard had to put new parts on his car thanks to the hefty blow from a manhole cover in FP1 and therefore incur a grid penalty. This means the Ferrari driver will have to start his car from 12th place. A tough weekend for the 'Smooth operator.'

The championship number six is definitely not happy with the penalty he received: ''There was clearly a safety issue at the track. That safety issue destroyed my car. My mechanics had to invest five hours in putting together a completely new car and on top of that, we got a 10-place penalty for something that we had nothing to do with. I’m just simply disappointed.''

Angry at FIA

''At the same time, I’m not surprised,'' continued the Spaniard, ''There have been many cases this year where I think the sport has proven that it can do things a lot better. I'm surprised that the governing body doesn't have the power to, in cases of force measure, to, let's say, overrule a bit in these kinds of situations where it's so clear that this is something that is completely out of the teams’ control.''

Sainz admits he's not in the best mood: ''I'm very upset, I think this is the right word, and in a bad mood because I just expected more from the sport in this case. I don't know, the rules, the governing body, the teams, I don't know, I expected more from the sport in this situation but for some reason, for sure like Max said, there's too much money involved in the finishing position in the constructors or whatever, for a team not to threaten to apply for a penalty for me.''
