The good news for Lewis Hamilton: he will start at the Las Vegas Grand Prix ahead of Sergio Perez, the man with whom he is battling for second place in the drivers' championship. Yet an eventual 10th starting spot is not what gets the seven-time world champion hot. Hamilton realises it is going to be a tough Grand Prix, in cold Las Vegas.

How he had experienced qualifying? Lewis Hamilton doesn't mince words with F1TV: "It's terrible, but it is what it is. It's impressive to see the Williams so high up. I just didn't have any grip out there. I don't think the tyres were working the whole session, so, it’s not ideal. It's been a problem I've had for a long time."

Hamilton has been waiting two years for a win

Hamilton has yet to win a race this season. Indeed, he has now been waiting two years for another win. When the Briton last stood on the top step of the podium, Max Verstappen had not yet captured a world title. The latter now has three. And the chances of Hamilton hitting the jackpot on Saturday night in Las Vegas seem negligible.

Asked about his expectations for the rest of the weekend, Hamilton is mostly realistic: "I mean, we started the weekend with a lot of degradation as a lot of people did, a lot of graining, so it'll be really interesting to see. I made some changes to the car and I'm hoping that it works in the race," Hamilton said.
